Xavier A. Pareja, MD

Dr. Pareja is highly trained, qualified, and experienced in performing specialized, minimally invasive pain management services and procedures. He has been practicing pain management in the Chicago area for several years. Dr. Pareja completed his medical residency in anesthesiology leading to a pain management fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

He has advanced training in fluoroscopic-guided epidural steroid injections, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, trigger-point injections, BOTOX injections, radiofrequency selective nerve blocks, IDET, and disc decompression (Nucleoplasty and Dekompressor).

He is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management, the American Academy of Pain Management, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Pareja is fluent in Spanish. He and his wife Dr. Popescu live in the South Loop area of Chicago.

Alexandra Popescu , MD

Dr. Popescu is a Rheumatologist with a special interest in Osteoarthritis. She treats arthritis pain involving the hips and knees as well as other joints and has specialized training in performing joint aspiration and injection. She routinely uses cortisone as a component of her injectate. Her experience includes the use of viscosupplements such as Synvisc. She has further interest in the treament of Rheumatoid Arthritis and is experienced in the use of specialized medications including Humira, Enbrel, Remicade, Orencia, and Rituximab.

Dr. Popescu completed her medical residency in Internal Medicine and a Rheumatology fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She currently holds a faculty position in the department of Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago medical school. She is a member of American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Popescu is also a member of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Popescu is fluent in Romanian. She and her husband Dr. Pareja live in the South Loop area of Chicago.
